Tips and Tricks for Furry Friends

A furry friend could help you through the hard times that are upon us! But that doesn’t mean that you should adopt a pet without taking good care of it, here are some tips and tricks!

A lot of cats and dogs around the world have luckily found new loving homes during the current global pandemic. As you may have heard, some cruel people have decided to literally throw their pets away in fear of the fact that their dog or cat might become infected and eventually pass the virus on to them. However, this is a completely false rumor and it has been proven by PETA that cats and dogs can’t contract the coronavirus in any way. Since we’re all stuck at home, for God knows how long, many of you might’ve already adopted a pet to keep you company. Adopting a furry friend will make your days at home less boring, but bear in mind that this comes with many many responsibilities. We’re here to tell you all the methods to take care of your pet and give them the affection they need.

Good Nutrition

Monitoring your pet’s diet can be quite tricky sometimes, as they’re not all the same when it comes to food. Some pets could develop an endless love for dry food, while others might despise it and prefer real food. Also, some might like only certain brands of dry food, they can be very picky. We advise you to do your research on which type of food is harmful for your pet, so when you look at pet food labels you’d know if it’s good for them or not. Bear in mind that you shouldn’t underfeed them, but also you shouldn’t overfeed them. You don’t want your dog to be overweight and sleeping all day because this could lead to serious health issues. A balanced diet will keep your pet healthy and also full of energy!

Make Time For Your Pet

The most important thing to do is make time for your pet and be there for them. Your cat isn’t just a pet, it’s a loving soul that connects with you just like any other being. Once you’ve adopted a cat or a dog, it becomes a new family member. You develop a deep connection with each other, their loyalty has no limits as they become attached to you much more than you planned to. They will automatically realize that you’re not just their owner, but also their best friend and vice versa. Some pets even imprint on their owner, thinking of them as a parent. You should give your pet affection as much as possible and spend as much time as you can playing with them. Pet your dog and play with him using a tennis ball or even a stick, the same goes for your cat! Pets respond to your voice and guess what? Just like a person, they learn their names and respond to you when you call them!

Check Ups

Your pet’s health should be your first priority, along with your own, of course. Therefore, regular vet appointments are a must, especially if they’re newly adopted. However, in light of recent events, we advise you to connect with your vet online or Google any symptoms you notice with your pet. Your dog or cat should take the necessary vaccines and shots to prevent any serious illnesses. Not only that, but you should also monitor and understand your pet’s normal behaviour, so when there’s a change or an abnormality such as not regularly eating or drinking, then you should immediately take them to the vet. Once you’re at the vet, make a schedule for your next visits to ensure your pet is always in a perfect shape. Just keep those visits for emergencies for now.
